Trees can strive well if they are planted at the right time and in the right place and are properly cared for. Checking and monitoring tree growth is an important aspect of ecosystem restoration. However, the ability to effectively monitor growth is hampered by difficulties in collecting high-quality data across large geographic and time scales.

And there are always solutions to every restoration effort's problems!

Currently, we are collaborating with Forest Smoothie and  Replant World to plant and track trees. Using a mobile application with a satellite Monitoring System called Tree tracker by Greenstand, we can obtain periodic growth of our trees, which helps us collect valuable data on tree survival rates. The application will screen each new tree photo and verify whether it represents a living tree, and will then transmit the data to the cloud-based platform, to be processed and put on a web map.

Over one month, Forest Smoothie has supported us to plant 569 trees in schools and previously burned peatland forests in Palangka Raya city. And we will plant and track more and more trees in the future. Here is the map of our planted tree.

We believe that through this collaboration, we can leverage our impact on the ground and provide robust data that can be a shared learning for other communities. More trees are to be planted! Let’s continue protecting our remain forests and make Kalimantan green again.
