Elevate: Honoring the Strength of Indigenous People.” We seek to highlight the films in which Indigenous stories are embraced, their rights are respected, and their voices are elevated.
We invite each and every one of you to join us on this transformative cinematic journey. This remarkable gathering of films serves as a platform for us to not only celebrate the rich cultural tapestry of indigenous communities but also to promote inclusivity, justice, and understanding. By showcasing these films, we strive to empower indigenous voices, shed light on their struggles and triumphs, and bring their stories to the forefront of global consciousness. By participating in our film festival, you become an agent of change, contributing to the ongoing movement towards recognizing and amplifying indigenous perspectives.
KIFF and its network are a platform for regional and international indigenous filmmakers to showcase their works, to form collaboration and solidarity, and to be able to share their stories with the global audience. Each of the submitted films plays an important role to voice and pass the indigenous stories that are often overlooked or ignored by the mainstream media.

What is the eligibility to submit my filmâť“
We have these four basic requirements:
âś… Indigenous theme
Film must represent the voices of indigenous communities, honor their culture and celebrate their traditional way of life. We won’t accept any films with “indigenous aspects” inserted but purposely harm, disrespect or stigmatize the community.
âś… English subtitle
#KIFF has an international audience in more than 13 countries, so the film should have English subtitle.
âś… No SARA & Nudity elements
We won’t accept any films with attacks on SARA (tribe, religion, race of other groups) and nudity elements.
âś… Production Year
Film must be produced in 2020 onward. Any production before that year will not be considered.
What is the benefit if my film listed as official selectionâť“
Since 2015 we have received over 500 submissions from 50+ different nations/communities in archipelago and overseas. Once you submit your film, our programming committee will curate it. Those who are listed into the official selection will get the certificate, merchandise and censorship letter, exposure to global audiences and opportunity to international film networks.
Is there any award or prizeâť“
The answer is, YES‼️ This year we will award three winners from each category; documentary, feature film and short video, with total prize money IDR 25,000,000 ! 🎉
We’ll also give a special award Honorable Mention to films that we consider most impactful.
