PALANGKARAYA- In collaboration with Tagana Palangkaraya and supported by TSAK Bukit Tunggal, Youth Act held a firefighters training for new members of Katuyung team who were also the candidates of Kalimantan Green Warriors generation II. There were total fifteen people from three provinces and seven regencies joined.
The training happened for two days on 26-27 June 2021. On the first day, the youth learned the theory in firefighting, some basic skills in giving first aid and how to act on emergency response. The next day they practiced on the field. The location was in the front of police station Jekan Raya district. There, the trainees did a simulation on how to extinguish the fires in peat areas.
This was the the 3rd firefighters training that we conducted since 2016. It took a while for us to find young people who were willing to be at the frontline to battle the forest fires. However, these fifteen people have shown determination and courage to finish the training. They are the great examples of youth who refuse to do nothing, but putting their concepts of protecting forest into an action.
