PALANGKARAYA- As this month is a celebration for indigenous communities all over the world, to commemorate the International Day of World Indigenous Peoples’, we hosted our first ever Virtual Art Exhibition & Live Performance.
The Exhibition lasted for five days, 2nd-6th 2021. There were two sessions each day; Handau at 3.30pm – 5.pm and Hamalem at 6.30pm – 8pm GMT+7. During five days of the virtual event, there were more than 50 artists from different background joined and performed, both trough pre-recorded and live streaming. Some of them are from Kalimantan. There was UKM Seni Palita Matan Anrau, a college students group who performed a traditional Dayak dance and song outdoor, and be streamed directly to Ranu Welum IG live. There were two dance academies joined, such as Betang Batarung, Marajaki and Tut Wuri Handayani. Then, there were also other stunning performances such as theatrical act by Teater Intan Batuah Hadurut and pantomime by Abdul Khafiz from Institute Tingang Borneo Teater, poets by Ray Arion and Barendeng Manulis, solo Kenyah Dance by Edi Simpei, sape music by Delly, song by Dongria Kondh community from India, and also Art Exhibition with Huma Uka Bakisah from Kalimantan, Handep Haruei and Shaq Koyok from Malaysia.
More than a series of performance, this virtual event served as a sharing platform to build solidarity and bounding among the indigenous communities. The excitement, passion and totality brought by each performer has inspired us and the audience all around the world.
